There have been 134,294 cases of COVID-19 in Canada, including 9,155 deaths.
Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Theresa Tam, says 47,806 people have been tested over the past week, with 1.1 per cent testing positive.
Across the country over the past 7 days, an average of 618 new cases have been reported daily.
Dr. Tam notes today on World Suicide Prevention Day that COVID-19 has significantly changed our daily lives and Canadians are reporting increased mental health needs.
She urges everyone to reach out to friends, family, neighbours and community members because a text, email, letter or phone call can be a lifeline to someone who is struggling.
Dr. Tam says, “Together, while apart, we can all help to prevent suicide.”
