An outdoor art installation in front of Saskatoon’s Canadian Mental Health Association office chronicles artist Marilyn Irwin’s journey after her son MacRae committed suicide.
From 10 am to 3, everyone is welcome to drop by the CMHA office on Avenue P North to check out the art installation and meet Irwin.
Thursday is World Suicide Prevention Day.
CMHA Saskatoon Executive Director, Faith Bodnar says the province’s new suicide prevention plan called Pillars for Life is a good start to addressing the epidemic suicide rates in Saskatchewan.
The 5 priority areas in the plan are specialized supports, training, awareness, means restriction and safety, and research, surveillance and evaluation.
Means restriction and safety would include improving the infrastructure in hospitals to reduce the risk of suicide.
