Officers responding to a call Monday morning around 1 a.m. arrived at the Ramada hotel in the 800 block of Idylwyld Drive North and found an empty truck parked at the entrance with the doors open.
The people occupying the vehicle had gone inside the hotel. They told officers a truck had been following them in the area of Circle Drive and Idylwyld and was yelling at them to pull over, stating the truck that they were driving was stolen. The complainants say the driver in the other vehicle was unknown to them. When they didn’t pull over, police were told a passenger in the other vehicle pointed a sawed-off shotgun at them.
The suspect vehicle was found in the parking lot of a bar in the 2200 block of 22nd Street West where a high-risk traffic stop was conducted. Officers say a partially disassembled shotgun was seized, along with numerous rounds of ammunition and a pickaxe. Two men, 29 and 26 years old, are facing a total of 14 firearms and weapons-related charges, along with a charge each of assault with a weapon.
