It’s day 12 of the port strike and the Federal Minister of Labour issued a statement that the difference between the employer’s and the union’s positions isn’t sufficient to warrant a continued work stoppage.
Seamus O’Regan has given a federal mediator 24 hours to send him recommended terms to end the strike at B.C. ports.
Once he gets terms from the mediator, he’ll forward them to both sides and they’ll have 24 hours to decide whether to ratify the principles of the deal.
Tuesday, Nutrien announced it has curtailed production at its Cory potash mine because of the Port of Vancouver strike.
