Election workers are busy today (Thurs) in the constituencies of Regina Coronation Park, Regina Walsh Acres and Lumsden-Morse with the final day of voting for their by-elections. Chief Electoral Officer of Saskatchewan, Dr. Michael Boda, says having these by-elections, similar to the Saskatoon-Meewasin by-election last year, give them a chance to test out their new process and equipment, which include electronic poll books and vote counting equipment.
March Docherty, MLA for Regina Coronation Park resigned in February. MLA for Lumsden-Morse, Lyle Stewart resigned in March and MLA for Regina Walsh Acres, Derek Meyers, passed away on March 28th.
The first preliminary vote count will be tonight then the second preliminary count of vote by mail ballots begins on Saturday and will be reported during the final count on August 22nd. The next provincial election will be in the fall of 2024.
