Saskatchewan Government Insurance says more than 14 hundred tickets were issued in September alone for people speeding in school zones. Still with school zones, police issued 13 tickets to drivers for failing to yield to pedestrians, and four tickets for either passing a school bus or failing to stop five meters from a school bus when safety lights were on.
Other results include 286 impaired driving offenses, 901 distracted driving offenses, and 515 tickets related to seat belts, car seats, or booster seats. Over 64 hundred tickets were handed out for aggressive driving or speeding – which does not include the school zone tickets.
October’s Traffic Safety Spotlight is on distracted driving which SGI calls, out of hand.
