The public was being asked to avoid the area as Saskatoon fire crews dealt with a structure fire around 4:40 Thursday afternoon at 1102 3rd Avenue North. Maintenance work was being done on the roof when the fire started. Everyone got off safely and the building was evacuated before fire fighters arrived. Crews used salvage covers to protect retail merchandise while other members dealt with the fire from both the interior and exterior of the building. The department says the fire was in a challenging location and so they had to bring in an additional engine to help out. The cause is being investigated. There is no damage estimate yet.
The Saskatoon Fire Department was out at a metal manufacturing building in Corman Park’s Bizhub on Capital Circle, just off Highway 16 in the north end last night (thurs) around ten o’clock. A piece of machinery was reported on fire. Crews determined it was in a filtration system so they removed the filters and put out the fire. No one was hurt. No damage estimate yet.
