Today is Small Business Saturday. It’s a day when all Canadians are encouraged to shop at a local business. The day is the brainchild of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business and Interac, to honour the people who make such significant contribution to their local economies. A study by CFIB says that more than nine of 10 Canadians say that small businesses are vital to their communities. They employ nearly 60 per cent of the private sector labour force and were responsible for 85 per cent of the net new jobs created between 2013 and 2017 according to Statistics Canada.
