Shots were fired by a Saskatoon Police officer Saturday night. Around 7 p.m. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted in the parking lot of a motel in the 2500 block of 22nd Street West where it was believed a drug transaction was occurring. Three unmarked police vehicles surrounded the vehicle, but officers report that while attempting to flee, the driver rammed two of the police vehicles and during the collisions, also struck an officer outside of their vehicle. The officer involved then fired their gun three times at the tires of the suspect vehicle. A 40-year-old man and his passenger, a 43-year-old woman were taken into custody. The officer had a minor injury which didn’t need medical treatment.
Police allege the man had $80 counterfeit money, $400 cash and two cell phones and in the vehicle, cash, cocaine and more cell phones were seized. The 40-year-old is facing charges that include trafficking cocaine, possession of counterfeit money, and assault with a weapon. The woman was charged with cocaine possession.
As this was going on, a second suspect connected to the investigation, a 30-year-old woman was arrested at a home in the 300 block of Silverwood Road. A search warrant was executed and police report seizing nearly 10 grams of fentanyl, 57 grams of a cutting agent and 143 grams of cocaine. Her charges are possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.
