Aside from the first four days of training camp, the U of S men’s soccer team is making a move inside Griffiths Stadium for the 2019 season.
The Huskies opened camp Monday with physical testing and will be on the field Tuesday through Friday on Fields 7 and 8 at Nutrien Park. However, as of next Monday, all Saskatchewan men’s soccer training sessions and matches will be on the artificial turf at Griffiths Stadium…a facility they will share with the U of S women’s soccer team and the Huskies football squad. Head coach Bryce Chapman will have 27 athletes on hand for training camp…17 returnees and 10 newcomers. The first of seven Canada West Conference home matches for the Dogs will be their first action of the new regular-season when Saskatchewan welcomes MacEwan on August 23. Alberta visits on August 25. SASKATOON – Preparation has begun for the 2019 Canada West men’s soccer season for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
Fall training camp begins today with a round of testing before the players take to the pitch for the first time tomorrow on Field 7 in Nutrien Park. The camp will feature 27 players, 17 returnees and 10 new faces.
New this year, all seven of the Huskies’ home games will take place on the turf of Griffiths Stadium in Nutrien Park.
The Huskies begin the Canada West season on August 23-25 at home against the MacEwan Griffins before taking on the Alberta Golden Bears in the annual Bateman Cup on August 25.
Saskatchewan then hits the road for five straight games, playing: Mount Royal (Aug. 31), Calgary (Sept. 1), Lethbridge (Sept. 7), Thompson Rivers (Sept. 13) and UVic (Sept. 15).
Returning home for an alumni weekend Sept. 21 and 22 to play games against Trinity Western and UBC Okanagan respectively, the Huskies wrap up their home slate Oct. 3 and 6 against Calgary and Mount Royal. 2019 HUSKIE TRAINING CAMP SCHEDULE
