A natural gas leak shut down the intersection at 22nd Street and Idylwyld Drive around 8:40 last night (mon). The Fire Department says an engine company was returning from a call when they noticed the smell of natural gas and heard gas leaking from a natural gas cover. A SaskEnergy crew was called in while the Fire Department closed down the intersection. Saskatoon Police closed down nearby intersections. City crews were called in to remove manhole covers so the gas could be ventilated from underground. Around 11:20, it was determined that the gas levels were safe and the barricades were taken down.
