The Saskatoon Fire Department says the garage fire call they received at 10:01 this morning was at 2001 St. Henry Avenue, not St. Charles Avenue, and when they got there, they were greeted by heavy smoke and flames.
Because of the possibility of flames connecting with power lines, power was shut off to the whole block. The fire was in the attic of the detached garage and was brought under control in 20 minutes.
The homeowner told firefighters there was beekeeping equipment and wax being stored in the garage and in addition to putting out the fire, firefighters contended with significant bee activity in the area of the garage. A fire investigator is working on a cause and a damage estimate.
