Tiki Laverdiere was in Saskatchewan for a friend’s funeral and now that man’s mother is accused of killing her. Nicole Cook, mother of Tristen Cook-Buckle, made her first court appearance this morning in North Battleford on charges of first degree murder, along with kidnapping, theft of a motor vehicle and improperly interfering with a human body.
23 year old Jesse Sangster also made a court appearance charged with accessory after the fact to murder and theft of a vehicle. They have both been remanded in custody until their next court appearance August 30th.
Two North Battleford women, 27 year old Shayla Orthner and 32 year old Danita Thomas, face the same charges as Nicole Cook. Brent Checkosis, who is 18 years old, is accused of being an accessory after the fact, along with interfering with human remains and vehicle theft.
Tiki Brook-Lyn Laverdiere went to North Battleford for the funeral at the end of April. The last time she was heard from was May 1st. Her remains were found on July 11th outside of North Battleford by a police dog.
