The goal is to break the record for the number of people visiting the Saskatoon Rotary Ribfest. 21-thousand people attended in 2015. Spokesperson Stan Garchinski is hoping Mother Nature will smile on the event and bring lots of sunshine. There will be a 50/50 draw again this year. Last year’s winner took home over $75-hundred. The 7th annual Ribfest is again in Diefenbaker Park and there is no entrance fee. It offers delicious ribs and pulled pork by Canada’s top ribbers, among other food items. Garchinski says it’s a great family event with pony rides, a bounce castle and a petting zoo, and live musical entertainment on stage with folk, country, rock and classic rock in the lineup. Some of the acts include The Johner Boys, The Hot Tamales, and CJWW’s Michele Dubois. Proceeds go to the Rotary Club, to support their local initiatives including RAP – the Restorative Action Plan, to work with youth who need help in figuring out how to handle conflict, and to deal with bullying and crime. Saskatoon Rotary Ribfest begins at 4 this afternoon and runs until 9, then 11 am to 9 on Saturday and Sunday and 11 am to 7 on Monday.
