Saskatoon Police used a CEW, commonly referred to as a taser Saturday evening when a man unlawfully confined several people while armed with a edged weapon, fled on foot and became aggressive with police when he was arrested.
Just before 6, the male suspect entered a home armed with a edged weapon on Minto Place in the city’s Kelsey Woodlawn neighbourhood. The suspect then threatened several occupants and kept them confined.
The suspect then fled on foot once police arrived. When officers were attempted to arrest the man in a backyard, he appeared to be reaching for his edged weapon, that’s when police used a CEW. No one was injured and police were able to take the man into custody.
The 34 year-old is facing a number of charges including assault with a weapon and 5 counts of unlawful confinement.
The man was scheduled to see a Justice of the Peace Sunday morning.
