The CFIB believes a hike in the province’s minimum wage could do more harm than good. Saskatchewan’s NDP has said it will advocate for a 15 dollar an hour minimum wage if elected, which is a 36 percent increase. CFIB VP of Prairie and Agri-business Marilyn Braun-Pollon says this could greatly hurt lower-income workers and smaller businesses. She says the province could look at other things like more training, academic upgrading or using the tax system to keep more money in the workers’ pockets. Braun-Pollon says looking at minimum wage like one size fits all is not a good approach.
