The Saskatoon Police Service plane assisted in tracking 2 stolen vehicles, leading to 5 arrests recently. The first was around 1:30 Monday morning, when patrol officers spotted a stolen vehicle around Idylwyld Drive and 33rd Street. Police say the driver wouldn’t stop, so the Air Support Unit tracked it to the 2200 block of St. Charles Avenue where 2 people fled and hid on a balcony. Officers seized numerous pieces of identification that didn’t belong to either the 39 year old woman or the 22 year old man who were arrested.
In the second incident, just before 2 this morning (Tues), a stolen vehicle from Regina was spotted at 20th Street and Idylwyld Drive. During the pursuit, a tire deflation device was used at Circle Drive and Preston but the vehicle continued on to Zimmerman Road and Highway 16 where it was forced off the road. Three people were arrested, two women 32 and 22 years old and a 25 year old man.
