The interior of the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ defensive line took a hit in last Thursday’s 24-19 triumph over Hamilton.
A hip injury has landed Regina product Zach Evans on the six-game injured list while import Micah Johnson is day to day with a couple of ailments. Elsewhere, there was concern during Monday’s Green and White practice when leading receiver Shaq Evans went down with what appeared to be an ankle injury after going up for a pass during a one-on-one drill with defensive back L-J McCray. Head coach Craig Dickenson felt Evans would be alright.
Meanwhile, Vernon Adams Junior did not practice Monday with Montreal and will likely miss the Alouettes’ next game with the Riders on Friday. The starting quarterback is still in concussion protocol after taking a hit to the head against Ottawa last Friday. Antonio Pipkin replaced Adams against the RedBlacks. In addition, Als starting running back William Stanback missed practice on Monday. Head coach Khari Jones told reporters Stanback is banged up, but could be ready to go against the Green and White.
