Passing lanes are coming to Highways 9 and 10 this fall.
Highway 10 is not only a main conduit between Regina and Yorkton but is a route heavily travelled by those heading to the lakes around Fort Qu’appelle.
Highway 9 runs south from the Canada/U-S border, north to Hudson Bay and is then a gravel road from Hudson Bay to the Manitoba border. It is also known as Saskota Flyway Scenic Drive Route.
The Ministry of Highways says this is the first design-build roadway contract in Saskatchewan and includes six sets of passing lanes, intersection improvements and realignments, resurfacing in some areas and upgrading of a significant number of culverts in addition to intelligent transportation systems like weather monitoring sensors.
The cost of the project is estimated at 34.9 million dollars with a scheduled completion date of October 15, 2020.
