It was known before the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ 46-man roster was released this morning that Zach Evans and Micah Johnson wouldn’t be in the line-up for Friday’s visit to Montreal.
Add A-C Leonard to the injured list, meaning Charleston Hughes is the only member of the Green and White’s defensive line playing against the Alouettes Friday from the group that suited up against Hamilton a week ago. According to the Riders’ depth chart (see below), Earl Okine will start in place of Leonard…although Lavar Edwards is on the roster after being injured…Makana Henry replaces Evans and Jeremy Faulk, who rejoined the Roughriders yesterday, starts in place of Johnson. Leonard joins Evans on the six-game injured list while Johnson is on the one-game I-L.
With Evans on the sidelines, linebacker Sam Hurl returns to the roster from the injured list. Despite not practicing all week, Shaq Evans is listed as a starting receiver and place-kicker Brett Lauther remains on Saskatchewan’s one-game injured list.
The 4-3 Riders and 3-3 Alouettes kick off a Friday Night Football doubleheader at 5 o’clock on T-S-N.
