A partial sale of SaskTel was very close to materializing according to the provincial NDP.
A new report released by the Saskatchewan Information and Privacy Commissioner shows the Sask Party government had a secret committee that would exchange information with potential buyers, something the NDP says put the crown corporation at risk.
Finance critic Trent Wotherspoon says he wants to know if this committee still exists, and if they do still plan to sell the crowns.
Wotherspoon says this government has been dishonest to Saskatchewan people.
“We’ve now learned that those proposals, or this consideration, was way further down the path than that government was ever pretending and Saskatchewan people deserve to know the facts around those deliberations, those proposals. And of course that represents a massive broken promise and betrayal of Saskatchewan people.”
Premier Scott Moe responded to these claims, saying the province has made it clear time and time again since 2017 that they have no plans to sell the crowns, adding the NDP is using scare tactics ahead of an election once again. (CKRM)
