The value of building permits rose 12 per cent May-to-June in Saskatchewan. Statistics Canada says that was good for second place among the provinces; only Nova Scotia could top that. The national average was actually a drop of 3.7 per cent. Looking at the numbers over the course of a year, sales were up here nearly 38 per cent since June of 2018. Again, only Nova Scotia could top that. Across the country there was an average decline of 5.7 per cent. The total value of permits in Saskatchewan in June was $150 million. In Saskatoon, the value of building permits rose 2.2 per cent May-to-June. Of 37 cities surveyed, 12 outperformed us. Still, the national average was a decline of 4.5 per cent. June-to-June, the value here was up 31.5 per cent. Nine other cities did better but the national average was a drop of 6.5 per cent. The total value of permits in Saskatoon in June was about $70 million.
