It’s a significant day for Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan.
Officials and dignitaries will mark 35 years on the Saskatoon riverbank by holding a matinee preview of one of this year’s shows.
After the performance of “A Comedy of Errors” the crowd will gather outside to turn the sod on the capital project set to begin this fall.
Director of Marketing and Development Alan Long says they have hit the 3-million dollar mark and is confident of reaching their fundraising goal of 4-million.
Long points out capital committee members continue to find private donors while they await word on federal and provincial commitments.
The opening of the new amphitheatre is planned for next spring with improvements also planned for the Meewasin Trail.
Long says Saturday’s gathering will feature the event’s past, present and future including founder Gordon McCall.
The show is set for 2:45 p.m.
