The Canadian Wildlife Federation wants to pressure the federal government to establish a National Pollinator Recovery Strategy.
The organization feels studies need to be done to find out why populations of pollinators like bees, butterflies, moths and flies are declining and set up protective measures.
Federation officials say 40-percent of pollinators are facing extinction which could have a devastating effect on our ecosystems.
It’s calling for initiatives to reverse the effects of pesticides and habitat loss.
The federation wants Canadian to sign a petition to the federal environment minister proposing an action plan involving the provinces, municipalities, First Nations and corporations.
