The Government of Saskatchewan is providing $330,000 to the City of Yorkton for policing. The funding is being provided through Municipal Police Grants, and Yorkton Mayor Bob Maloney says it isn’t new money. Three existing positions will be funded for 2019-20.
The government also announced that the City of Moose Jaw was awarded the same amount which will fund three existing Moose Jaw Police Service positions through 2019-2020.
The province announced funding for Saskatchewan’s two largest cities earlier this week, which for Regina, will fund 40 existing positions and it will fund 43 in Saskatoon for the same time frame.
