Saskatoon Police are searching for a suspect who refused to stop for officers yesterday evening.
The incident kicked off around 5:30 pm when patrol officers reported to a call of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot in the 700 block of Circle Drive. They noted the grey or silver 2010 Chev Impala, covered in dried mud, windows down and car engine running.
And when they looked inside they say they spotted a man slumped over the steering wheel with a sawed off rifle next to him.
Officers gave commands but the man took off driving erratically. The license plate on the car was stolen as well and they did try to lay down a stud belt but the suspect left the roadway numerous times to evade police. The pursuit was called off in light of rush hour traffic and that the Air Support Unit was not flying.
The suspect is described as 25 to 28 years old, heavy set and a stocky build. He has tanned skin with thin facial hair and at the time of the incident was wearing blue jeans, a long sleeved coat and dark coloured hat.
Anyone who can identify the suspect or can locate him is asked to contact Saskatoon Police or Crime Stoppers.
