The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital officially opens to patients September 29th, but today (Thurs) was the day for government representatives, donors and guests to tour the facility and take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The new hospital cost $286-million. $50-million of that was donated by Jim Pattison. He says the hospital’s size and technical excellence goes beyond his wildest dreams. Premier Scott Moe says he truly believes hope lives here and adds, “The grand opening of the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital marks the culmination of a decade’s worth of hard work and determination.
There are 176 private patient rooms, a therapeutic play area, 50 designated family spaces, 6 individual treatment rooms for chemo and other infusion treatments, 2 fun rooms with an outdoor play area and Saskatchewan’s first ever dedicated pediatric sleep lab.
There are 60 specialists with another 12 to be hired, and the hospital will employ 24-hundred people.
