Rider Nation perked their collective ears this past Saturday when it was announced that receiver Jordan Williams-Lambert had been released by Chicago of the N-F-L.
They, then, got really excited Wednesday when Williams-Lambert’s name appeared on Saskatchewan’s active roster and various media said his return to the Roughriders was imminent. But, the leader in receptions, with 62, in his first C-F-L season last year was not practicing with the Green and White Thursday.
“That was just one of those things where, when he cleared waivers in the N-F-L, his rights revert back to us,” explained head coach Craig Dickenson. “It’s as much of a house-keeping thing as anything…his rights just come back to us. We’ve talked to him, we would certainly love to have him back but there’s nothing going on anymore than that.”
The Riders travel Friday to Winnipeg for Saturday’s 2 o’clock Banjo Bowl kick-off against the Blue Bonbers.
