A day after Alberta announced a constitutional challenge against the federal government’s Bill C-69, Saskatchewan’s government says it will apply for intervenor status. Bill C-69 changes the environmental process for resource projects and both provinces feel it goes too far. Premier Scott Moe has said in the past the bill makes it virtually impossible to get any infrastructure like pipelines built.

Justice Minister and Attorney General, Don Morgan, says it’s important to stick up for the rights of the province and its ability to regulate Saskatchewan industry. He says the province’s legal team feels Saskatchewan has a strong argument against the bill, similar to the argument being made by Alberta, but they will look at what Alberta’s pleadings are to make sure this province’s pleadings are unique and reflect Saskatchewan’s situation.
