Regina Police say the heavy police presence in the 19-hundred block of Winnipeg Street started as an arrest on an outstanding warrant and turned into an Emergency Services call-out when the man would not come out of the home. Because the outstanding warrants were for firearms and violent offences, police felt there were other people in the home who were at risk.
Residents in nearby homes were advised to shelter in place. Crisis Negotiators and SWAT were called in around 2 a.m. Friday morning. And at 3 a.m. a man and two women exited the house safely.
The women were released. The man was arrested on warrants and Regina Police continue to investigate the incident which also allegedly involves a prohibited gun.
