The Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools District Parent and Tot Program continues to thrive. It’s open to parents and care-givers with children up to 6-years-old who are read stories as well as play and sing with a literacy based theme. Superintendent Tammy Shircliff says the weekly two hour sessions include a chance for parents and care-givers to interact while child care workers look after the kids. She says this gives the adults time to share experiences, advise and develop friendships. A district employee came up with the idea several years ago and stressed it had to be free with unlimited access to the seven schools offering the program. The district’s partner in the venture is Columbus Bosco Homes.
