Reducing the number of youth injured on the job was the focus of a midday event at Holy Cross High School in Saskatoon. Safety organizations set up booths outside the gym where a video was shown on the topic. Statistics suggest about half of all new workers including youth get injured within the first six months on the job. The Youth Safety Education Day event (on Monday) also featured discussions with students about what they do to keep themselves safe on the job and elsewhere. The Safety Advisor for Service Hospitality Laura Bentz says mental health was another theme for the presentation to ensure students have the proper tools and resources to stay safe at work.
