A stolen vehicle investigation escalated into a tense situation in Regina.
Police say the suspected stolen vehicle spotted Wednesday night on King Street ended up abandoned on Queen Street where the driver fled into a King Street backyard.
With the Canine Unit in pursuit police say the suspect demanded vehicle keys from a resident of the home at gunpoint and forced that person and three others into a bedroom while pointing the firearm and making threats.
After surrounding the property police say officers got into the home and found the suspect trying to hide seizing a loaded 12-gauge home-made shotgun or zipgun in the process.
He was taken into custody without incident.
31 year old Matthew Stacey Bitternose of Regina is facing 22 charges including forcible confinement.
