CUPE education workers will be picketing outside the Regina Public School Board meeting tonight (tues). Two locals submitted a written request to present their bargaining concerns at the meeting. To date, they say, they have received not even an acknowledgement from the board. Locals 650 and 3766 both have strike mandates. Both say recent bargaining dates have been less than fruitful. The unions say the employer is proposing removing a step from the grievance process that allows members to present their grievances to them. Local 3766 president Jackie Christianson asks, “Why would they not want to hear from their employees?”
