The Rotary Club of Saskatoon Nutana hope the dedication of this year’s brick at the park’s Peace Plaza is a tribute that will last for generations.
The annual ceremony recognizing the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winners was conducted by grade seven and eight students from St. Anne Inquiry School.
Club board member Asit Sarkar says the ceremony itself is part of their goal to promote world peace while youth involvement makes it top of mind for the students moving forward.
The 2011 winners were the Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee and human rights advocate Tawakkol Karman from Yemen who all spoke out for women’s rights and safety.
The club recognizes a different group of Nobel Peace Prize winners each year
