At least 85 Canadian cities and towns have marches planned to call for action on climate change.
In Saskatoon neither school division has plans for any classes to attend. Saskatoon Public Schools spokesperson Veronica Baker says they would not encourage students to miss class and if a student is absent from school they must be excused by a parent or guardian.
In Saskatoon the climate strike rally is noon at City Hall and a climate strike rally is also planned in Regina starting at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum followed by a walk to the legislature.
Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau and the Greens Elizabeth May are in Montreal for the march there. That event is also being attended by teenaged Sweedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.
Jagmeet Singh will be marching in Victoria, B-C.
Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer is on the campaign trail but not taking part in any of Canada’s climate marches.
