When you look outside later this weekend or on Monday, you may see a winter wonderland. Environment Canada is forecasting snow in Alberta, bringing 20 to 30 centimetres in that province, and it’s heading east.
Meteorologist Natalie Hazell says that low pressure system will combine with a system from the U.S. bringing precipitation to the southern half of Saskatchewan and at this time of year, that could mean rain, sleet or snow. The further south and west you live, the sooner it will arrive. That means Regina could see some snow by late tomorrow night. Saskatoon’s forecast is for snow later on Sunday and into Monday bringing accumulations of a few centimetres. There is the possibility of up to 10 centimetres of snow, but Hazell doesn’t expect that will be the case.
It’s expected to warm up later in the week, but will still be below normal for this time of year. When asked if we would get a short bout of summer weather at some point this fall, Hazell doesn’t believe that is in the cards. The longer range forecast doesn’t include any significantly warmer than normal temperatures in the next 2 weeks.
