The Government of Saskatchewan, says in a statement released late yesterday, that the offer to the Crown Corporations and one Crown agency stands and the only further consideration they would discuss would be non-monetary. And the province also notes that a five per cent increase over five years is not a wage freeze.
According to the government Unifor has indicated that SaskPower, SaskEnergy, SaskWater, The Water Security Agency and SecurTek and DirectWest the job action will initially take “work-to-rule” form.
Finance Minister Donna Harpauer stated, “We respect the right of Unifor members to take job action, but believe that a strike is not in the best interest of the Crowns, Crown employees and Crown shareholders – the people of Saskatchewan.”
Harpauer also says that in the event of a strike, essential services agreements and business continuity plans are in place to ensure vital services continue.
