Abrook rolled up 114 yards on 17 carries and now has 908 rushing yards for the season. Dicks who capped a 92 yard first quarter drive with a 13-yard touchdown catch led all Hilltops receivers with four catches for 87 yards.
Tyler Herman had a solid day completing 12-of-18 passes for 210 yards and two majors and Fleming came off the bench to complete both of his passes.
The Hilltops defense stiffened in the second half holding the Wildcats to a single point with defensive lineman Tristan Hering leading the team with six tackles. Middle linebacker Jaydn Pingue made four tackles and recorded the game’s lone interception.
Rylan Kleiter kicked three field goals including a 42 yard boot in the first quarter that hit the upright and fell through and added three converts in addition to catching three passes.
Head coach Tom Sergeant told the post game show audience on 92.9 THE BULL he was happy with the way the team executed the adjustments made by the coaching staff and halftime and said the first goal of clinching first place has been achieved.
