For the second time in two weeks, G-M and head coach Eric Ditto has gone out and acquired a 19-year-old scorer for the Prairie Junior League’s Delisle Chiefs.
On Wednesday, the Chiefs announced the acquisition of Brody Swanson from the nearby West Central Rage for future considerations. Swanson was the Rage’s leading scorer last season with 59 points, including 42 assists. Back on September 20, Delisle reached into the P-J-H-L’s South Division for Jaden Shewchuk from Fort Knox. CHIEFS ADD SWANSON
Delisle, SK – The Delisle Chiefs, of the Prairie Junior Hockey League (PJHL), have acquired the Hockey Canada playing rights of 2000 born forward, Brody SWANSON (Big River, SK) from the West Central Rage in exchange for Future Considerations.
SWANSON was the leading scorer for the Rage last season as an 18-year old Rookie. He posted 59 points (17 goals, 42 assists) and 82 PIM’s in 36 games. Included in that were 3 power play goals and 1 short-handed tally. His 59 points placed him in a tie for 10th overall in PJHL scoring and 2nd overall in Rookie scoring. He also chipped in with 2 points in 3 post-season games.
The acquisition of Swanson comes on the heels of another trade where Chiefs Head Coach & GM Eric Ditto added forward Jaden Shewchuk to the Delisle line-up. Ditto is excited to be adding another piece to the puzzle. “Brody adds to the depth we already have in place. He’s a very skilled forward who is going to be counted on to put the puck in the net.”
It’s a long season of ebs and flows to prepare for a post-season push but Ditto feels that adding Swanson and his offensive talents was necessary for the road ahead. “When you get into the grind of the season, you’ll need all the scoring you can get. Brody just brings another element that we’ll need when things get tough.”
The Chiefs will return to action this Saturday, October 5th, when they host the Saskatoon Royals. Game time is 7:30pm at the Delisle Centennial Arena.
