Swift Current RCMP say one of their off-duty officers heading to work last Wednesday noticed a vehicle, with a Manitoba license plate, driving in an erratic manner.
The officer called into the detachment for a background check and discovered the vehicle had been stolen from a car dealership in Winnipeg on September 30th.
Around 9:30 in the morning on October 2nd, the RCMP pulled the vehicle over just outside Swift Current on Highway and arrested 58 year old Rodney Carl Starke of Red Deer who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant that had been issued by Correctional Service Canada.
Officers also seized two large knives, a black balaclava, zip ties, and what is allegedly a forged social insurance card and forged driver’s license.
Starke is in court in Swift Current on October 9th charged with possession of stolen property, identity theft and illegal possession of government documents.
