The gender wage gap in Saskatchewan was $4.88 in 2018, or about 15 per cent, according to Statistics Canada. That was the third highest gap, behind Alberta and British Columbia. The average hourly wage for men was $31.92. The average wage for women was $27.04. Only Prince Edward Island was virtually tied at $24.33 for men and $24.18 for women. The national gender wage gap amounted to about 13 per cent. Statistics Canada says, “Given that women in Canada have surpassed men in educational attainment, diversified their fields of study at post-secondary institutions, and increased their representation in higher-status occupations, the persistence of gender-based age inequality warrants continued attention.”
