Reading for pleasure will soon be an option for some visually impaired students in Saskatchewan.
The Alternate Format Materials Library will be adding books like Star Wars and others from authors popular to young readers thanks to a 12-thousand dollar donation from the Canada Post Community Foundation for Children.
The facility operated by the Saskatoon Public Schools Division has supplied school books for visually impaired students and has been replacing some of its collection since the 2010 international adoption of Unified English Braille.
The Library’s Collection Developer is excited to add braille books that visually impaired students can enjoy.
Sarah Moloney also believes their thinking skills and vocabularies will grow as a result.
The foundation’s funds are built through donations from Canada Post employees and customers.
