It’s all about mental health awareness and prevention strategies at Bishop James Mahoney High School today (Thurs). The students will hear from guest speaker Callie Kennedy, who lost her sister to suicide, followed by breakout sessions on subjects like suicide support, self-care and functional fitness.
This is the launch to the school year’s Mosaic Extreme School Challenge Makeover which offers $10-thousand grants to 10 schools annually to encourage and promote student nutrition and healthier school environments.
BJM was one of the 10 recipients for the past school year for its efforts in teaching about food security, providing workshops to other schools and growing and preparing healthy food choices. Saskatoon’s Marian Graham Collegiate was also 1 of the top 10 for establishing a community nutrition program and enhancing cooking and life skills training.
