Class size and composition continues to be a stumbling block as the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation bargains a new contact with the Government Trustee Bargaining Committee. Education Minister Gordon Wyant has said in the past that class size can’t be included in a contract offer because legislation prevents that from happening. The president of STF disagrees. Wyant says this matter needs to involve not just teachers but all education partners including school boards, and the Saskatchewan Association of School Business Officials. He says wants to have meetings planned as soon as possible. What the government is offering in a three-year deal is a $15 hundred one-time payment per teacher in year one, and a two per cent salary increase in each of years two and three.
