For the second straight month, the annual inflation rate was 1.9 per cent — close to the Bank of Canada’s ideal two per cent target.Inflation has now remained at 1.9 per cent or higher for seven consecutive months. On average, economists had expected a reading of 2.1 per cent for September.
In Saskatchewan, inflation fell to 1.7 per cent from 1.9. Only three provinces were lower.
In Saskatoon and Regina, the rate was steady at 1.7 per cent. Of 16 cities surveyed, only 4 were lower than ours.
