The man accused in the death of Elijah Kozak has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Duran Laplante was charged with second degree murder after an altercation on the 200 block of 5th Avenue North that killed the 24-year-old in August of 2018

Laplante pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced Thursday in Saskatoon Provincial Court.

The five year term for the 23-year-old will be reduced by 21 months for time already served.
