Hiring a lawyer isn’t affordable for many citizens and some try to go it on their own or would like to learn more about certain aspects, and that’s what this next week is about. It’s the fourth annual Saskatchewan Access to Justice Week which begins on Sunday.
Co-ordinator of the week and director of CREATE Justice at USask’s College of Law, Brea Lowenberger, says the week kicks off with a free legal resources fair and trade show in Saskatoon at the Frances Morrison Library from 1:30 to 5. Non-profit, government and community organizations that provide legal resources will be on hand.
For those that may need family law assistance, there is an opportunity to meet with a volunteer lawyer or law student at a clinic hosted by the Ministry of Justice, Pro Bono Saskatchewan volunteer lawyers, Pro Bono Students Canada, and the Public Legal Education Association. It runs from 2 to 4 in the lower level of the Frances Morrison Library.
