A suspicious death in Battleford early Friday morning is now being investigated as a homicide by the RCMP.

27 year-old Ryan Gatzke was found with serious injuries on the 100 block of 26th Street West. He was taken to hospital where he was declared dead.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area of the 100 block of 26th Street between 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. Friday morning for any information concerning any activity that may have seemed suspicious or out of the ordinary to contact the Battlefords RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.

That could include any unfamiliar vehicles, loud noises or suspicious people. The RCMP believe there is no threat to public safety at this time.

Next of kin has been notified and Victims Services has been offered. An autopsy has been ordered and has been conducted by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
