The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce says it is looking forward to opportunities for Saskatchewan with the new federal government. CEO Steve McLellan says, “The regional tensions that exist have shown through in a dramatic fashion, be we are hopeful the new government can bridge the gaps and create a more united Canada.” McLellan says the chamber will continue to push for the speedy completion of the Trans Mountain pipeline as well as changes to legislation regulating development of large projects. The group also wants to see a new pipeline serve eastern refineries with western oil. The business group wants a Royal Commission on tax reform to end what it calls the confusion and piecemeal system of taxation in Canada. It also does not want implemented, what it calls a wasteful and overpriced Pharmacare system.
